This classic crisp has a twist: maple syrup and cranberries!
3/4 cup plus 1/2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 stick cold butter, cut in chunks
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2-1/2 pounds apples, peeled and cut up into 1/2-inch chunks
1 cup fresh cranberries
1/4 cup maple syrup
For the topping, put 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and butter in a food processor and pulse to form moist clusters. Mix in pecans.
Peel and cut up the apples into chunks and put them in a buttered 9" pie dish. Add cranberries, maple syrup and 1/2 tablespoon flour; mix. Scatter on topping. Place dish on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 40-50 minutes until topping is lightly browned.
